Here is the weekly round up of team performances from all our Cottenham Colts teams from Mini-League through to the Girls League from Saturday 16th December.
GIRLS TEAMS RESULTS
Under-9s v Milton Colts
After a tough few weeks, the girls played their last game of the year.
What a team effort it was. Non-stop running, tackling and great passing. Resulting in some great team goals!
Both teams played in the right spirit and it was a very enjoyable game.
All the girls hard work in training is starting to show on the pitch.
What a bunch of superstars!
Under-10s v Newmarket Town
These girls are unstoppable at the moment!
The trip to Newmarket for the final game of the 2023 season was going to be tough for the Under-10s and the heavy pitch didn't help, but the whole squad put in another great performance. It was a very even start but some quick goals put the Colts in control.
Some slick attacking play and solid defending ensured the Reds continued their good form. It was a real team effort with plenty of goals shared around and everyone working hard for each other. Plenty of encouragement too, which is great to see.
A great way to end the year and the girls will be hoping to continue their form in the New Year!
Under-16s 2 v 1 Histon Hornets
The Under-16s took the spoils in this top of the table clash as they defeated Histon Hornets. It meant that the Colts finish top of the table at Christmas, a great achievement girls.
COLTS LEAGUE TEAMS RESULTS
Under-12s [Red] 7 v 4 Royston Town Youth [CUP] The Reds moved into the next round of the cup in the this goal fest at home to Royston. Ollie and William were amongst the goalscorers.
Under-12s [Black] 0 v 4 Girton Colts The Blacks couldn't make it further in the cup as they went down to a defeat against Girton.
Under-13s [Red] 2 v 0 Melbourn Dynamos
Under-13s [Black] 4 v 0 Saffron Walden Community Youth
The Under-13s [Blacks] faced a difficult last game before Christmas against Saffron Walden. It was a beautiful winters day for football and both teams worked hard to play good football, Cottenham started well pressing hard for the opening goal.
The hard work paid off after 13 minutes when Fin puts Sam.S through to slot home, 10 minutes later Sam.B breaks down the right and pulls the ball back for Sam.S to score his second of the game. Two minutes later Ethan scores at the far post to make it 3-0.
Half time comes and goes and Cottenham press right from the off and it pays off. Fin plays the ball forward Ethan, who wins it and drives into the area and fires the ball into the near post to make it 4-0.
Thats the way it finished, great way to end the year and the win moves the team up to 5th.
Under-14s [Red] 1 v 4 Elsenham Youth
Under-17s 3 v 3 Soham Town Rangers
It was an entertaining draw as the Under-17s shared a point with Soham in a six goal thriller. Jay, Diogo and Oisin on target for the Colts.
