Cottenham Colts Weekend Round-Up [2nd March]

Here is the weekly round up of team performances from all our Cottenham Colts teams from Mini-League through to the Girls League from Saturday 2nd March.

MINI LEAGUE RESULTS

Under-7s v Swavesey Spartans

Another great team performance from the Under 7’s. It really showed how much the boys have improved over the last few weeks - they are putting their training sessions into practice on match days.

There was great team work with some good passes from out wide to enable more of the team to get some goals.

As always, incredibly proud of the team!

GIRLS TEAMS RESULTS

Under-10s v Sawston Girls

It was a tough match for the Girls after a few weeks without a game and the squad was depleted with illness! The weather was awful as the game kicked off but the whole team dug deep and put in a great performance.

There was lots of running, tackling and plenty of shots to keep the crowd entertained. Both teams putting everything into the game and it was very even throughout.

Another positive performance from the team and they will be looking to finish on a high with just a few more league games left!

Super Effort, Girls!

Under-11s [Purple] v Huntingdon Sports Girls

It was cold, it was wet at times but the girls did themselves proud from start to finish.

The Colts took control of the match in the first half with some nice attacking play and a solid defence. It was tough going in the conditions to play the usual nice passing football.

Both teams were looking to attack in the second half and the Girls had to dig deep to come out with a positive result in this game. Lots of great individual performances but the defence was the highlight, ensuring the home side were restricted to just a few chances.

Another great game, Girls!

Under-13s 3 v 2 Trumpington FC

A battle in the elements today against Trumpington!

The girls were slow out of the starting blocks but grew into the game. Trumpington with the wind helping them pressed us and went ahead with a good goal from range. The girls fought back though with Lila running into the box and causing chaos before Martha followed in to equalise.

The second half saw Cottenham enjoy the wind advantage which allowed us to attack more. But the next goal went to Trumpington who broke up the wing against the run of play and scored a well finished second. The lead didn't last long though as Hannah found space in midfield and threaded a ball through from range that Luka got on the end of winning the foot race and slotting home from close range.

It was anyone's game now and the breakthrough came as Lila tackled and sprinted her way into the box to score the winner for the home side. 3-2 the final score in Cottenham's favour.

Luka got Player of the Game for good wing play, tackling and scoring to get us level.
