Here is the weekly round up of team performances from all our Cottenham Colts teams from Mini-League through to the Girls League from Saturday 30th November.
MINI LEAGUE MATCHES
Under-9s [Black] v Trumpington
The Blacks continued their good recent form against Trumpington Kings.
This was a very strong defensive display throughout alongside some very good attacking moments.
Well done boys for working hard and continuing to develop as a team!
GIRLS TEAMS RESULTS
Under-11s v Newmarket Town
The girls took on Newmarket for the third time this season, eager to secure a positive outcome. Despite missing a few key players, they faced a challenging start as the away team applied pressure on the home goal. However, the Colts held their ground and managed to score just before halftime.
Newmarket wasn't about to let the home team dominate, putting the home defense to the test throughout the match. It was a closely contested game, with both teams giving their all in attack and defense, even on a pitch that could have used some maintenance!
Both teams put in a tremendous effort, leaving everything on the field!

Under-12s [Purple] 1 v 0 Haverhill Rovers Youth
It was yet another intense and physical showdown with Haverhill, and today was no exception. The first half was a gritty affair, with both teams struggling to create clear opportunities. Cottenham's standout player was Molly, who made an impressive run but unfortunately hit the side netting with her shot.
As the second half began, we found ourselves a bit disorganized, highlighted by a mishandled back pass that led to a crucial goal line save from Ava.
Haverhill managed to find the net, but the goal was disallowed due to a foul on Ava, who showed remarkable courage despite taking a hit to the head.
Gradually, Cottenham found their rhythm, and Flo seized the moment after a poor goal kick, scoring to put us ahead 1-0.
From that point on, the girls expertly managed the game, maintaining their formation and securing the victory for three valuable points.
Sarah earned the player of the match title for her outstanding performance at center back, which helped keep a clean sheet.
Great job, girls! I'm incredibly proud of your effort!
Under-12s [Red] 3 v 2 Manea United
A hard fought win for the Reds at home to Manea.
Under-14s 8 v 1 Sawston Girls
Today, the team faced off at Sawston on a tight pitch that made for a crowded game. Nevertheless, the girls showcased their passing skills brilliantly, and after a well-executed play, Luka set up Sasha to score the opening goal, making it 1-0.
Maddie entered the game on the right wing and made an immediate impact with her first touch. She netted a stunning goal with her left foot after weaving past three defenders. Shortly after, Bethan assisted Luka from the left, who skillfully controlled the ball and finished it off, bringing the score to 3-0 by halftime.
The second half continued in the same vein, with Maddie adding another goal to her tally, followed by Sasha charging through the center to extend the lead to 5-0.
At this point, Leila took to the field while Bethan switched to goalkeeper. Just 20 seconds later, Sawston found the back of the net, making the manager's substitution look questionable.
Fortunately, Maddie scored two more goals, and Sasha completed her hat-trick, wrapping up the match with a final score of 8-1.
Maddie's outstanding performance earned her the Player of the Game title, thanks to her four goals.
Great job, girls!
