MINI LEAGUE MATCHES

GIRLS TEAMS RESULTS

UNDER-10s v Godmanchester
The Under-10 girls battled the wind and a strong Godmanchester side this morning but came out with loads of positives.
Strength, determination and some fantastic defending.
Well done girls - so much improvement all around the pitch!

UNDER-12s 0 v 4 Cambourne Town
The girls had a challenging journey to Cambourne today to take on the league leaders, who remain unbeaten.
It was clear from the start that this would be a difficult match due to the windy weather, yet both teams aimed to play an attacking style of football. The home team applied early pressure, but the girls fought valiantly in defense, restricting Cambourne to just a few long-range attempts. We attempted to counterattack, but were unable to create any significant chances, and the first half ended without any goals.
With the advantage of playing with the wind, the Cambourne side began the second half aggressively, forcing Niamh to make several impressive saves. Strong defensive performances from Ava, Emilia, Jazzy, and Joss kept the league leaders at bay for a while, but ultimately, the mounting pressure proved too great, and the home team emerged as comfortable winners.
A fantastic effort from all the girls, as the entire squad contributed, with many players taking on different roles. A special shoutout to Elodie for making her debut in such a challenging match. Ava grabbed player of the match for her non-stop running from full back.
Now, it's on to the cup next week!

UNDER-13s [PURPLE] 0 v 3 Saffron Walden
Challenging conditions at Saffron Walden Utd today, with strong winds affecting the play. The first half was a struggle for both teams, with opportunities being scarce.
However, the second half opened up, with Saffron Walden striking the bar early on. Millie then had a long-range shot after fighting for possession, but their goalkeeper made a solid save.
The home side took the lead from a well-executed free kick that was just out of Ava's reach. Unfortunately, we slipped into a self-destructive phase right after the restart, giving the ball away to their striker, who quickly scored a second goal.
Millie came close again shortly after, breaking free but failing to convert into the empty net.
Saffron Walden netted a third goal in the dying moments after some excellent wing play, although the final score felt a bit generous considering the effort both teams put in.
Marley was named Player of the Game for her tenacious performance in midfield.
We have a cup match next week, which will be our first on the new 3G pitch.
Great job, girls!

UNDER-15s 3 v 1 St Ives Rangers
This week, we hosted St Ives at home. The girls faced a strong wind during the first half but managed to pass the ball effectively and made impressive runs to advance up the pitch. Luka made a break from the halfway line, outpacing the St Ives defense, but her shot was saved, and Bethan was unable to capitalize on the rebound.
Next, Luka turned into a playmaker, assisting Sasha, who confidently slotted the ball into the bottom corner.
St Ives responded with a long-range shot that was just too high for Leila to stop.
However, another break from Luka put pressure back on the St Ives defense. Her cross to the far post was met by Maddie, who scored to make it 2-1 at halftime.
Even with the wind at our backs in the second half, it was still a challenging game. Elsie made a run down the left, chased after the ball after being tackled, regained possession, and passed to Bethan, who scored to make it 3-1.
There were additional opportunities in the second half, but the score remained unchanged.
Luka was named Player of the Game for her relentless pressing, forward runs, and assists.
Great job, girls!
